Bangalore to host finals of Vivo IPL 2016

After the tiff between the Maharastra government and the BCCI regarding the amount of water being wasted to maintain the pitches in the drought-hit state, it seems that things have finally been sorted out. The venues for key fixtures of the tournament have been modified and rescheduled.

The Feroz Shah Kotla in Delhi will now be hosting the eliminator, whereas the final match of the IPL will take place at the M Chinnaswamy stadium in Bangalore on 27th May 2016. The Qualifiers will also be held in Delhi and Bangalore.

Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy Stadium will be the alternate venue for the home matches of Mumbai Indians and Rising Pune Supergiants from May 1.

There were efforts being made to shift some of the matches to the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Rajasthan by the Rajasthan Sports Minister Mr. Gajendra Singh Khimsar, but due to shortage of time and lack of clarity on whether the matches will be played or not, the matches were shifted to a more neutral venue for both the teams belonging to the drought-hit state.

There has also been a rescheduling of the timing of two of the matches. On 15th May, Kings XI Punjab is to play against Sunrisers Hyderabad at 20:00 (IST) and Mumbai Indians would take on Delhi Daredevils at 16:00 (IST). Now, the timings of both matches have been reversed, although, they will be played on 15th May itself.
After the Maharastra High Court gave orders to shift all the matches which were to be held in the State in the month of May to be shifted to alternative venues, as many as 19 matches had to reschedule. This will definitely, to some extent cause inconvenience to the teams in terms of travel as well as preparation for the games.
